Visitors Guide
St George Malankara Orthodox Church welcomes all people who are interested in worshiping the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Sunday Morning Prayer begins at 8:30 AM followed by Holy Qurbana at 9:30 am and typically lasts one hour thirty minutes. If there are memorial services or other special services it may last a bit longer. Services are conducted primarily in Malayalam. However, an English service is held one Sunday of every month.
While there is no formal dress code for attending the service, our parishioners dress in accordance to Indian tradition. Male Parishioners wear formal shirts and trousers, while the women wear traditional Indian attire: Sarees and Salwar Kameez.
We extend every hospitality to all visitors, however, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Holy Qurbana as the divine presence of Christ. It is reserved for the members of the orthodox community who have prepared themselves to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus. Non orthodox are still invited to participate in the worship of the church and welcomed to attend all other parts of the service.
In our services, children worship alongside the families and are always welcome. If needed, we offer a baby room which opens into the sanctuary where the parents can tend to their young children. Changing tables are also available.
After the service, all are welcome to gather in the dining hall for lunch and social hour. Thereafter, parishioners and guests are welcome to participate in the various ministries' activities.
